ODFL is proud to announce that the new Janta Primary is now
located in Dalsinghe village - 18 km (11 miles) southeast from the
resort town of Dhulikhel which is another 30 km (18 miles) from
Katmandu. In the Spring of 2008, ODFL committed to construct three classrooms, toilets,
and a playground for the children of eight villages in the Kavre
district. There are 84 kindergarten and first-grade children in the 150
households scattered throughout the district, walking over an hour to
get to the nearest school. Previous to ODFL's classrooms, the "school" was a temporary room
on loan from a woman's group. Our connection to the proposed Janta
Primary was arranged by the Nepalese Youth Opportunity Foundation
(NYOF), a non-government organization with offices in Sausalito and
Katmandu.
